One of the principal local amenity organisations is the Malmesbury & St Paul Without Residents' Association. For over 25 years we have been an effective voice on behalf of local residents with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for residents of Malmesbury and the adjoining parish of St Paul Malmesbury Without, which embraces the smaller communities of Corston, Cowbridge, Milbourne, Common & Foxley roads and Rodbourne. The Association is lead by a committee of members who meet monthly (see Diary). All members are welcome to come to the committee meetings but please let us know in case the location has moved, and so that we can ensure anything you want to raise is on the agenda.

The Association involves itself in all aspects of community life from monitoring and commenting on planning applications to highway and safety issues, to assisting residents to improve their local amenities, in fact we consider ourselves as part of the essential fabric of the town as we have good links into officers both in the Town and Wiltshire Council and the newly formed Malmesbury Area Board. We also can offer advice on a wide range of other amenity matters or put people in direct contact with those agencies most likely to be of assistance to them.

We produce a monthly News Sheet full of useful local information which is displayed on notice boards and shop windows and a twice yearly individual News Letter reporting on the Association's activities. These publications are now circulated to members via email as are the monthly minutes of Committee meetings in addition to important information of impending issues that might affect their particular part of town.

To ensure we have a greater voice in these quarters, it is vital that we have the full support of the townsfolk on such matters as:

  • planning issues
  • traffic problems
  • infrastructure support
  • local crime
  • cleanliness of streets
  • social concerns
Your membership of the Association can make a lot of difference and we would welcome your application to join, even if you cannot be active in all our work. It is only £4 per year. Please consider completing the membership application and dropping it in our dedicated post box inside the Town Hall, on the right side (facing Cross Hayes) of the doors opposite Tourist Information. Completion of the Standing Order Mandate would save us administration costs.
