Core Strategy: Public Consultation

posted 13 Jun 2011, 12:33 by Miles W   [ updated 11 Aug 2011, 06:33 by John Gundry ]
Wiltshire Council's Consultation Period on their Core Development Strategy (June 2011) closed on 8th August 2011. However we are maintaining focus on the Consultation in three ways: clarification on specific points, discussion at the September Area Board Meeting, and review of the public's comments.

1. We are seeking clarification on a number of evidential and process matters. For example, how will the Council take note of the comments received from residents? We will collate and refine a list of questions to be notified to Wiltshire Council by 25th August, in time for the Area Board Meeting on September 7th. Members of the Association are also invited to submit questions through the Chairman by 22nd August. (Contact Roger Budgen, 01666 825762, Email : mspwra@ymail.com.)

2. Via Cllr Killane, we have asked the Area Board to add an agenda item on the Core Strategy 2006 to 2026 Consultation to the September meeting. You are encouraged to attend on 7th September at Malmesbury School if you have any concerns about the way the consultation was conducted or the data upon which future development was calculated.

3. The Wiltshire Council Consultation Portal remains open to everyone here:  http://consult.wiltshire.gov.uk/portal/spatial_planning/wcs/wcsconsult2011?pointId=1307872248258#section-1307872248258 where you can view the comments made by the public on their Core Strategy. It also shows the Strategy Document's four pages on Malmesbury (also attached below) and the Association's response (also below).  The public's comments clearly show the strength of feeling that the Consultation has provoked about how Malmesbury will develop in the next fifteen years.
