Flooding and Storm Damage

posted 28 Oct 2013, 03:13 by Owain Cole
As we are now entering the season of rain, here is brief advice about protecting from storm damage received from the Mayor:

BEFORE A STORM HITS:
- Tidy away or bring inside all loose items in the garden (including chairs, tables, gardening equipment, rubbish).
- Tie down loose items outside that cannot be brought inside.
IF A STORM HITS
- Stay indoors – preferably downstairs – and keep pets in.
- Clear windowsills and close curtains to protect against flying glass.

This advice is adapted from the Wiltshire Council Householders' Guide to Emergencies available here http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/emergency-planning-householders-guide-for-emergencies.pdf and attached below in the files section.

This Guide also contains advice on flooding but there is more in the Environment Agency booklet attached which is available athttp://a0768b4a8a31e106d8b0-50dc802554eb38a24458b98ff72d550b.r19.cf3.rackcdn.com/LIT_5216_d5fc0d.pdf
